The Sprouts is our 3's / 4's program that builds upon and extends the many social and academic skills that we focus on in our Seedlings class. During this year, the Sprouts learn to cooperate and share with others as they move from parallel to interactive play. This is the year that their language develops through their work and play sessions. Children continue to practice problem solving as they navigate and negotiate the classroom space and materials. We will also be focused on building literacy and numeracy through concrete Montessori materials and works that help build fine motor skills.
In the Sprouts year, the children will have more opportunities to do neighborhood and community studies as they take daily walks and field trips. Through projects, literature and discussions, the Sprouts begin to dissect what their role and impact is in the classroom and out. They begin to explore how their different communities intersect.

We believe creative expression to be one of the most powerful forms of expression. The Sprouts will continue to hone their skill of different forms of mediums and explore a variety of art materials.
We feel that children learn best through play. We provide many rich opportunities for our Sprouts to make choices about their play and encourage more elaborate and interactive story-telling as the children's language abilities develop.
Inquiry and Exploration
We engage our students in inquiry and exploration through the careful presentation of materials. We follow the children's lead in their play and exploration.
