Our first full week with the Saplings was full of fun both indoors and out.
We made it to Grover Cleveland Park everyday and enjoyed climbing the big rock, rolling down grassy hills and discovering sap dripping out of a tree!
In our indoor classroom the Saplings are busy building friendships and remembering classroom routines. We are so impressed with how quickly all our students have internalized the routines and with what joy they have embraced all the opportunities for increased independence. At circle, we talked about all the things that the Saplings and Sapling teachers wish to learn and we were so amazed by the variety of things that our children want to learn! What a brilliant community of learners we are building.
Thank you to Vivi’s family for joining us in our classroom for a special birthday celebration! Happy Birthday Vivi!
Thank you to all our families who brought in books for the classroom library.
Dear Sapling families,
Welcome back to school and to the Saplings classroom community! We enjoyed spending some time with all of you either during our classroom visit, picnic at Grover Cleveland, Parent Night or Beginning of Year Conferences. Thanks so much for partnering with us to make a great transition.
In the classroom, we have been excited to dive into our families and feelings unit theme including arranging a dollhouse and looking at family pictures we'll paste into each All About Me book. This week we learned more about each other, getting to know new teachers' and children's names and faces. A new song we all sung, that will begin every group circle, is Good Morning Dear Earth. Below are the lyrics if you'd like to sing along this weekend. See you soon for our first full week!
Good morning dear earth
Good morning dear sun
Good morning dear stones
And the flowers every one
Good morning dear bees
And the birds in the trees
Good morning to you
And good morning to me
