There is no clear roadmap for schools responding to COVID-19. Here at wBees Forest School, we have had to dig deep to figure out our own internal compass for how to navigate opening a preschool in a time of pandemic. Our mission is to serve the families and children that need us during this time in as transparent and as accountable manner as possible. While we have instituted numerous safety measures at wBees, it is ultimately up to the entire wBees community to hold true to the social contract of safe-guarding not only our own families but our entire school community.
Please see some of the important policies that we feel serve our mission to be transparent and to hold the entire community accountable: 1) Every family member and caretaker must submit a negative Covid-19 test within 7 days of a child's first day of school. 2) All families have access to a "Running Illness Chart" of any illnesses that crop up in the school and the results of Covid testing. This chart protects the identity of our families while still being transparent to the entire community. 3) A random sampling of 20% of staff and families will be asked to take a Covid test each month. Just one family member needs to be tested for this ongoing testing protocol. 4) Contactless masked drop-offs / pick-ups with temperature checks and daily health check survey filled out by each family. 5) Ongoing sanitizing measures of children's materials and frequent hand washing.
These are just some of the many measures that we have taken to safeguard our entire school community. While the world is very different than the one we knew before, very much still remains the same. Our children come into our school each day greeted by their beloved teachers. They learn to independently navigate putting away their things, changing their outdoor shoes to indoor shoes, and they are filled with marvel and joy to explore their classroom and make community with their friends! We are so happy to be able to return to our "home" here at wBees! If you are interested in joining this community, please fill out this Interest Form below.
